Prayer of Love

Taught by Shaykh Adnan Kabbani last Ramadan, and an amanah to us from our beloved Shaykh Raja Ashman Shah (q).

Last Ramadhan, our much-loved Shaykh Adnan Kabbani spent the first ten blessed days of Ramadhan in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, with Maulana’s mureeds. Despite suffering from excruciating back pain, he valiantly continued to spend time with the mureeds, even giving us up to three Suhbahs on certain days and the many Jewels that were revealed in the Suhbahs during those ten beautiful days, took our breath away. Terawih prayers with him and our late Shaykh Raja Ashman Shah (q), was heavenly and surreal.

One of those priceless Jewels shared with us,was this special prayer, that Maulana Shaykh Nazim had instructed mureeds to do, a special hajat prayer, to pray for Shaykh Adnan’s safety and health, during his approaching spine operation that Ramadhan. Shaykh Adnan later revealed that this special hajat prayer, was also known as Solat Sunnatul Hubb, the Prayer of those seeking Divine Love, and it was one of the hidden deeds of Awliya who did it before doing Muroqabah to their Master, just before Fajr time..

In the days before his sudden passing, Shaykh Raja Ashman spoke of how, many mureeds had forgotten and neglected this prayer, and how important it was for us to do this prayer regularly, as it was the prayer of one who sought nothing, but His Love. In a poignant and tearful Suhbah given at his Maqam the day of his passing, Shaykh Bahauddeen Adil said that Shaykh Raja Ashman himself proved it, by living only for the Love of Maula, not Dunia, despite having Dunia at his feet. He never looked once at this carcass we call Dunia, his eyes were firmly fixed on attaining Divine Love.

It is with this intention in mind, that is, to revive the performance of this prayer, that this short reminder to myself and all lovers, has been posted. In the coming days, we shall post more from the Jewels that Shaykh Adnan Kabbani and our much-missed Shaykh Raja Ashman Shah (q), had shared with mureeds.

How to perform it

Below is the ‘Solatul-Hubb’ or the ‘Prayer of Love’ that Shaykh Adnan Kabbani taught, it is done just prior to Muraqabah, before Fajr prayers.

Mawlana Shaykh Nazim also says that is a special Solat Hajat that we can do when a need arises.

It is very similar to solatul tasabih, but instead of a 4 raka’at prayer that Sunnat tasabih is, this sunnat prayer is only 2 raka’ats long.

1. In the first raka’at, before reciting Surah Fatihah, recite ‘Subbuhun Qudduusun, Robbuna wa robbul malaikati warruuh’, fifteen times. Recite it ten times after reading the surah, & ten times in ruku’, ten times in i’tidal, ten times in sujud, ten times while sitting & ten times in sujud again, making 75 times in the that first raka’at. It is best to read two Surah Ikhlas after Fatihah in that raka’at.
2. In the second raka’at, before reciting Surah Fatihah, recite Selawat/ Darood Shareef, fifteen times. Recite it ten times after reading the surah, & ten times in ruku’, ten times in i’tidal, ten times in sujud, ten times while sitting & ten times in sujud again, making 75 times in the that second raka’at. It is best to read one Surah Ikhlas after Fatihah in that raka’at.

After that, make your do’as and ask Allah to grant you his Love, the Love of those He Loves, and the Love of the Actions, that lead you to His Love.

Do also remember always to recite al-Fatihah for the good health and long life of Sultanul Awliya Shaykh Nazim Al Haqqani, for the continued recovery and improvement of Shaykh Adnan Kabbani’s health, and for the Pure Soul of Shaykh Raja Ashman Shah (q).
